I did it...I went out 12 miles today. After being sick all last week and having knee issues (and overall joint soreness) this week, I made it through a 12 miler! It was not an easy run, let me tell you! Running at an 8:40 pace is usually very enjoyable and relaxing. Today, running an 8:48 pace was rough. For the first 8 miles, I felt fine. I didn't intend to go faster than an 8:40 pace today anyway. The last 4 miles left me feeling completely drained. When I reached the base of 85th Avenue (at the base of the hill), I knew I was close to finishing. Getting up that hill felt like I was going in slow motion (well, I probably was!)
With that said, I finished! Now, hopefully for the next two weeks, I can follow my training plan, and get ready for the BIG DAY!!
Thought for the day: Sometimes life gets in the way of what you plan on doing. Most of the time, life isn't wrong.

Still Here
Okay, it has been almost 3 weeks since my last post. Unfortunately, I've been really busy with school, work, and home. I realized two weeks ago, I took on more than I could handle. Here I am, still taking 14 credits, working full time, and last time I checked, I still have a house, a husband, and two kids to take care of. Oh, running...yeah, I have that too. I just haven't been running as much as I would like.
Last week I was really feeling ill. I took most of the week off due to my barely being able to get out of the bed in the morning. How did I make it through the days without dropping?
I have been running, but I'm not logging my miles like I should be. I was really looking forward to running an excellent track workout on Wednesday night, but that was cut short by massive knee pain (which this time around, I was NOT going to try to run through). It's Saturday night, and I still have an achy knee. But I will be running tomorrow morning. Maybe I won't make it the whole 12 miles, but I'll try. The important thing is to be able to be healthy for the TC 10 miler on October 4. I realized I haven't been stretching before or after my runs (my morning runs before work) because I just can't fit in an after run stretch. Honestly...now it's still dark until 6:20 in the morning. This means my early morning runs have to be shorter (just to get back in time to get ready for my day). I'm okay with this. I have my Wednesdays and Sundays to get quality runs in. From now on, I'm going to try to stretch, even if it means stretching while I eat breakfast (if I have time to eat!!)
No complaining here, though. I'm lucky to be where I'm at, and have such a great life! I'm happy that my plate is full! If only I could have just one more hour of daylight in the morning, life would be about perfect!
Thought for the day: Happiness leads to success.
