Resolutions Are For People Who Don't Do Anything All Year

I'm making a resolution not to make any resolutions this year. Life just has gotten in the way of my running in the last 2 months. I can't make excuses, but things happen, and sometimes the really important stuff trumps the running. So, here's a brief breakdown of my crazy life since the TC 10 miler...

Full time job
Sick Dog
Daylight Savings Time (doesn't save you time at all)
Cold Icy Roads
Snook (my dog) is put to sleep
New Puppy (who likes to chew EVERYTHING and is in need of CONSTANT supervision)
Children
Full time school
Praxis 2 test (which I PASSED!!)
Did I mention new puppy....

So that's life. I remember the days when I had little to no responsibilities. I was carefree and could run any time I wanted. I didn't care if I ran at 5 in the morning in the middle of winter. I remember thinking nothing of an icy road, or little to no sleep before a long run. I had a pack. Now I'm just kind of a lone wolf (Hangover reference!).

I'm going to try to run when I can. I'm not going to stress out over the little things because life is too short. I'm going to hug and kiss and appreciate my family more, because they're what I'm here for. I'm going to finish college having learned as much as I can so I can be the best teacher possible. I'm going to pray more, because I can't do anything without God. I'm going to think more before I speak, because speaking is highly overrated. I'm going to listen more...I'm going to be happy everyday for the things I have and the things I don't have that I don't need. I'm going to jump on my bed because I couldn't when I was little. I'm going to let Brock and Cale jump with me! Thanks for reading this post, if you are. Thanks for not judging me because I don't do EVERYTHING to become an elite runner. Maybe someday I will be. Right now, I'm happy with who I am and where I'm at. Happy New Year!

Oh, and those words weren't just a bunch of resolutions. They were hopes and dreams and goals. They don't just apply to the first week of January...hopefully they live forever!
