A "BREEZE"

I can vaguely remember early spring runs. I was just starting to run consistently and was very disappointed with how windy and difficult my runs were. I wanted to run in nice weather, and was wondering when in the world THAT would happen.

Today was one of those days you look forward to in the early spring. It was cool and just a bit breezy. It wasn't too hot, nor was it too cold. Like Goldilocks would say, "It was JUST right!"

I ran around the lake three times. This gives a total of 10 miles, but I stopped the watch, and did a nice 3/4 mile cooldown (my legs were a bit sore, this cooldown was great).

On my first time around the lake, I watched bunnys scatter, birds dive in and out of the trees, and even saw two deer glide across the road (as if they were Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve). My second time around the lake wasn't so delightful. As I do on all my lake runs, I said to myself (quietly) "fresh legs, positive attitude", as I turned the curve to go for my second round. Just as I said that motivational line, I came upon a rabbit, laying across MY side of the road, squished like a pancake. This rabbit was probably one of the rabbits I saw my first time around, scattering here and there. Now he or she was road-kill. I hoped I didn't have to run into a dead deer on my second time around (or third time). Thankfully there was no more roadkill that I could see for the remainder of my run (well, just the bunny I had to run past each time around).

Rest in peace little rabbit. I hardly knew ye!

Good run (other than soreness....but hey, it was a 10 miler).

Total for today: 10 miles at 1 hour 21 min. (8:10? pace)

Total for the week: 31 miles

Thought for the day: It better rain soon....or our grass is going to poke holes through our shoes!
