Running on Empty

Wow, I really pushed myself to the edge today, and I didn't even fall over!

Today was my 7 mile progression run. I was to run the first mile at a nice easy pace. The five miles after that were to be run 8min-7:30 pace...it was supposed to hurt a bit in the second half of the run, with a nice (easier) cool-down. Well, it did hurt for those 5 miles. I felt all kinds of things for the 5 miles I ran hard. The best part was, I ran faster each mile (which is the whole purpose of a progression run). It's good to see just where I'm at right now. Hopefully next year, these runs will be in the 6:40's.

Check these splits out!
Mile 1(warm-up): 8:43
Mile 2: 7:39
Mile 3: 7:27
Mile 4: 7:25
Mile 5: 7:22
Mile 6: 7:11
Mile 7 (cool-down): 8:32

I am pretty happy with this run. It was funny; I wish I could have seen myself on that last mile of the run. I felt like my legs weren't going to move, somehow, they did! What I'm really happy with, is that I know I can run fast (well, this is as fast as I can run at this stage).

Tomorrow will be a nice easy 4 miles. Thank goodness!

Thought for the day: Just when you think you've done all you can, you surprise yourself. Surprise yourself today!
